The OKANOGAN ASSOCIATION

The USS OKANOGAN ORGANIZATION is an organization of Officers and Enlisted men that served on the ship from its commission on December 3, 1944 to its removal from service on November 28,1979.

The USS OKANOGAN APA 220 was named after the OKANOGAN county in the state of Washington. The ship was an amphibious personnel assault ship. The primary mission was to carry and disembark on the beach a full battalion of troops. The ship received many battle stars and written commendations while in service.

We have a reunion each year and we rotate it across the United States so that the people would not have to travel so far.
